Un/Natural Projection

Projection 1

There is a manicured partnership at the heart of the built environment. An agreement between the unnatural and the natural. It is a deliberate attempt to reassure people that the city centers, residential neighborhoods and suburban strip malls aren't barren inorganic landscapes, but are alive with grasses, bushes, flowers, and trees. But in most cases, the "natural" is a prescribed 3 foot strip of dirt, at odds with the asphalt road and the concrete sidewalk.

The images in Un/Natural Projections use the shadows of trees captured by buildings to show that even adding the natural into the built environment only offers up a melancholy reminder of a more wild past.
